Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that striker Iké Ugbo has joined Cypriot top-flight side Apollon Limassol on a season-long loan.
The move comes after a difficult period for the Canadian international, with Sporting Director Simon Wilson revealing that Ugbo requested a fresh start this summer as he looks to rediscover the form that first brought him to Hillsborough.
Wilson explained that the decision was reached collaboratively, with both player and club believing the loan offers the best opportunity for Ugbo to return to his best.
"After a difficult period, Iké asked the club to facilitate a fresh start this summer, with the objective getting back to his best for the benefit of himself and the club."

Looking for a fresh start
Ugbo initially joined Wednesday on loan from French side Troyes in January 2024 and made an immediate impact during the club's remarkable Championship survival campaign.
The striker scored seven goals in 19 appearances across all competitions during his first spell, earning a permanent move to Hillsborough the following summer.
However, he was unable to reproduce that goalscoring form after completing the transfer and leaves on loan having made 81 appearances and scored nine goals for the Owls.
The move to Cyprus provides an opportunity for Ugbo to play regular first-team football and rebuild his confidence while remaining under contract with Wednesday.
A career spanning England and Europe
A product of Chelsea's academy, Ugbo gained valuable senior experience through loan spells with Barnsley, MK Dons, Scunthorpe United, Roda JC and Cercle Brugge before joining Belgian side Genk.
He later moved to Troyes in France and spent the first half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Cardiff City before making the switch to Sheffield Wednesday.
Internationally, Ugbo has represented Canada at senior level after previously featuring for England's youth teams and was part of Canada's squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
While his second spell at Hillsborough proved challenging, Wednesday supporters will remember the decisive role he played during the second half of the 2023/24 season, when his goals helped secure the club's Championship status.
The Owls will now hope a successful season with Apollon Limassol allows Ugbo to rediscover his best form and benefits both player and club when the loan comes to an end.
