Sheffield Wednesday will begin the 2026/27 League One campaign away at Leyton Orient, with the Owls handed a trip to Brisbane Road on the opening weekend.
The new season starts on Saturday 15 August, with Wednesday’s first home league fixture coming a week later against Bradford City at Hillsborough.
After a summer of renewed optimism around the club, the fixture list now gives supporters the first real outline of what lies ahead. There will be attention on the opening run, the festive period, the local fixtures and, inevitably, the final day of the campaign.
Wednesday’s first three league games see them travel to Leyton Orient before back-to-back home fixtures against Bradford City and Bromley. A midweek trip to Wycombe Wanderers follows on Tuesday 1 September, before another away fixture at Peterborough United.
The first clear Yorkshire fixture arrives on Saturday 10 October, when Wednesday travel to Huddersfield Town. The reverse fixture at Hillsborough is currently scheduled for New Year’s Day.
There is also a trip to Barnsley on Saturday 21 November, with the return meeting at Hillsborough set for Saturday 20 March.
The festive schedule gives Wednesday an away fixture at Burton Albion on Boxing Day, followed by a home game against Mansfield Town on Tuesday 29 December. The Owls then begin the new year with Huddersfield Town at Hillsborough on Friday 1 January.
The season is currently scheduled to finish at home to Oxford United on Saturday 8 May, with a 12:30pm kick-off.
As ever, fixtures remain subject to change for broadcast selections, cup progression and other scheduling factors.
