Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Henrique Vilela De Carvalho Fernandes is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays primarily as a central midfielder for Sheffield Wednesday.

Fernandes developed within Wednesday’s academy and gained recognition during the 2023/24 campaign. In February 2024, he was nominated for the League Football Education Goal of the Month after finishing a flowing team move with a powerful strike into the top corner.

He signed his first professional contract with Sheffield Wednesday on 3 July 2024 and was promoted into the senior squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Fernandes made his professional debut on 13 August 2025, starting Wednesday’s EFL Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers. The match finished 3–3 before the Owls progressed through a penalty shootout, although Fernandes was forced off shortly before half-time after suffering an injury.

His league debut followed on 1 November 2025 when he came off the bench during a Championship fixture against West Bromwich Albion. At the end of the 2025/26 season, Sheffield Wednesday confirmed that the young midfielder had been offered a new contract.
