Player profile
Logan Scott Stretch is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Sheffield Wednesday.
Stretch began his football development in Liverpool’s academy before joining Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2023.
He arrived at Hillsborough as a first-year scholar and continued his development with the Owls’ Under-18 and Under-21 sides.
Stretch also represented Wales at youth international level, featuring for the Under-16 and Under-17 teams during the early stages of his academy career.
He completed his two-year scholarship with Sheffield Wednesday and signed his first professional contract on 2 July 2025.
Stretch was promoted into the senior goalkeeping group ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and was allocated squad number 25.
He began the season as an understudy to Pierce Charles and was named among the substitutes for Wednesday’s opening Championship fixture against Leicester City.
In September 2025, Stretch was moved permanently into the first-team dressing room alongside fellow academy graduates Reece Johnson, Jarvis Thornton and Ernie Weaver.
He continued to combine first-team involvement with appearances for Wednesday’s development sides.
Stretch made his senior debut on 10 January 2026 during an FA Cup third-round tie away to Brentford.
He entered the match as a substitute after Pierce Charles suffered an injury and completed the final half-hour of the fixture.
The appearance represented the culmination of his progression from academy scholar to first-team goalkeeper.
Stretch remained involved with both the senior squad and the Under-21 side during the remainder of the campaign.
Sheffield Wednesday exercised an option in his contract in May 2026, extending his stay at Hillsborough until the summer of 2027.
At international level, Stretch progressed through the Wales youth system after representing the country at Under-16 and Under-17 level.
He was promoted into the Wales Under-19 squad during the 2025/26 season and received several international call-ups.
In June 2026, Stretch was selected for Wales’ squad at the UEFA European Under-19 Championship.
Standing at 1.88m, Stretch is a right-footed goalkeeper who offers height and physical presence inside the penalty area.
His development within the Wednesday academy has also given him experience of playing behind possession-based teams and distributing the ball from defensive areas.
