Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Iraq international striker Ali Al-Hamadi, adding further attacking options to Henrik Pedersen’s squad.
Al-Hamadi arrives at Hillsborough having most recently been with Ipswich Town, where his performances helped take him into the Premier League before subsequent loan spells with Stoke City and Luton Town.
From Wimbledon to the Premier League
Al-Hamadi made his name with AFC Wimbledon, with his performances attracting the attention of Ipswich Town.
The Tractor Boys made their move and Al-Hamadi signed a four-year contract at Portman Road.
Premier League football followed with Ipswich before the striker spent time away from the club on loan at Stoke City and Luton Town.
That gives Wednesday a forward with experience across several levels of English football as Pedersen continues to shape his squad for the League One campaign.
Iraq international
Al-Hamadi also brings considerable international experience to Hillsborough.
The striker has earned 21 caps for Iraq, scoring five goals, and featured for his country at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
His arrival provides Pedersen with another option at the top end of the pitch as Wednesday continue their rebuild following a busy start to the new season.
Al-Hamadi will wear the number 12 shirt during his time with the Owls.
