Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer, adding further competition between the posts ahead of the 2026/27 League One campaign.
The 27-year-old joins the Owls following his departure from Scottish Premiership side Dundee United and becomes another addition to Henrik Pedersen's reshaped squad.
Maynard-Brewer brings experience from both England and Scotland, having spent more than a decade with Charlton Athletic before moving north of the border. The Australian goalkeeper has also represented his country at youth level and was part of the squad that competed at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
From Australia to the EFL
Born in England and raised in Australia, Maynard-Brewer began his career with ECU Joondalup before joining Charlton Athletic's academy as a teenager.
He gained senior experience during loan spells with Chelmsford City, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Dulwich Hamlet, Dover Athletic, Ross County and Gillingham before establishing himself in Charlton's first-team squad.
Maynard-Brewer made 87 senior appearances for the Addicks across all competitions and was part of the squad that secured promotion through the League One play-offs in 2025.
A permanent move to Dundee United followed in January 2026, where he featured during the second half of the Scottish Premiership season before becoming a free agent this summer.
Competition between the posts
The arrival of Maynard-Brewer further strengthens Wednesday's goalkeeping department following the additions of Joe Lumley and Connal Trueman.
His signing gives Pedersen another experienced option and creates increased competition for places ahead of a demanding League One season.
An athletic goalkeeper with strong reflexes, Maynard-Brewer will now look to establish himself at Hillsborough and compete for the number one shirt.
