Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Henrik Pedersen has left the club with immediate effect.
In a short statement released on Sunday afternoon, the club said Pedersen had led the first team through "an exceptional period in the club's history, providing stability and leadership during a time of significant uncertainty and change." Wednesday thanked him for his contribution and wished him every success in the future.
The club gave no reason for the departure. Matt Hamshaw will take charge of the first team on an interim basis.
The news comes a day after a 2-0 defeat at Doncaster, Wednesday's second successive 2-0 away loss following Tuesday's defeat at Notts County. Calls from the away end for Pedersen to go grew louder at the Eco-Power Stadium.
Pedersen stepped up from assistant manager to take charge for the 2025/26 campaign following Danny Röhl's departure in July 2025. He then led the side through administration, points deductions and relegation, keeping a stripped-back squad competing week after week, and said publicly that he had never once considered walking away. He stayed on after Arise Capital Partners completed their takeover in May and oversaw a summer rebuild.
More to follow.
