Reece Johnson signs new Wednesday deal before Eastleigh loan

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Reece Johnson has signed a contract extension with the club before joining Eastleigh on loan.

The defender was among the players offered fresh terms by Wednesday following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign, and the Owls have now secured his future at Hillsborough.

Johnson will continue his development with Eastleigh, who compete in the National League, giving him the opportunity to gain regular experience in senior football.

The move should provide a valuable next step for the academy graduate as he adapts to the physical and competitive demands of the men's game.

For Wednesday, the arrangement allows the club to retain a promising young defender while giving him the first-team minutes that can be difficult to guarantee at Hillsborough.

Johnson will now link up with Eastleigh ahead of the new campaign, with the Owls able to monitor his progress throughout the loan spell.

Sheffield Wednesday confirmed the contract extension and loan move through the club's official website.
