Since taking over from Dejphon Chansiri, Arise have ploughed significant investment into the stadium, training ground and playing squad. Now, with the transfer window closed, attention has turned to some of the less visible problems inherited from the old regime — including a club-wide review of contracts and the incentives built into them.
Pedersen's new terms are reported not to be a reward for the Owls' strong start to the season, but rather an effort to bring his deal in line with what is expected for a manager leading a club of Wednesday's stature in League One. The report is clear that this is not an extension — Pedersen's contract is believed to still run to 2028 — but a renegotiation of terms on the existing timeline.
He is not the only one benefiting. Sources cited by The Wednesday Word suggest several other staff at Hillsborough, both on the footballing side and beyond, have also been in contract talks as Arise look to put people "on a proper trajectory" going forward — a marked change from the previous ownership's approach.
The report also points to a strong working relationship between Pedersen and the club's executive team, including chief executive David Storch and sporting director Simon Wilson, with those involved said to be pleased with the current state of affairs at Middlewood Road.

Wilson opens up on Wednesday's multi-window transfer thinking
Sporting director Simon Wilson has given some insight into how Sheffield Wednesday are approaching transfer planning under the club's new ownership, telling The Wednesday Word that the days of scattergun recruitment under Dejphon Chansiri are firmly in the past.
Wednesday brought in 18 players last summer in a window that needed both volume and quality, but Wilson says that is not the model going forward. Instead, working alongside Kevin Beadell and manager Henrik Pedersen, he is aiming for a more joined-up approach that looks several transfer windows ahead. Wilson says that becomes easier as the squad fills with younger players on multi-year deals, since it is clearer when those players are likely to peak, be offered new terms or be sold.
Wilson acknowledged the difficult part of planning within the EFL pyramid: clubs do not know in advance which division they will be competing in, and the jump in demands becomes steeper the higher they go. League Two to League One is a gradual step, but League One to the Championship, and the Championship to the Premier League, are far bigger jumps. Promotion itself forces a rethink of the whole squad. His approach, he explained, is to plan conservatively for the most likely scenario — staying in the current division — while keeping half an eye on the level above.
He also flagged the academy as an increasingly important factor in transfer planning. Decisions on renewing a senior player's contract or bringing in a January signing increasingly depend on whether a promising academy player might be ready to break through instead. Wilson said he wants to sharpen his own knowledge of the academy from the age of 13 upwards now the transfer window has closed, though he noted the club already has staff who know that talent well and those conversations are now underway.
Jamal Lowe named League One Player of the Month for August
Jamal Lowe has been named the EFL League One Player of the Month for August, the club has confirmed.
The forward scored three league goals across the month, netting in the 2-1 away win at Leyton Orient before adding a brace in the 7-2 home rout of Bromley, a game in which he also set up Mason Burstow for his first Wednesday goal. Lowe has since added further goals against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup and in the league win over Wycombe Wanderers, taking his tally to five for the season and making him the Owls' top scorer so far.
The 32-year-old Jamaica international was happy to collect the award but kept the focus on the team, saying: "I'm really pleased, it's nice to get these types of things." He added that there is more for both him and the side to achieve as the season goes on.
The thinking behind Wednesday's National League system loans
Sheffield Wednesday have several young players out on loan in the National League system at present, and there is a clear logic behind sending them there, according to a report from The Wednesday Word.
Devlan Moses, Reece Johnson and Logan Stretch have all had their first taste of senior football at Hillsborough before being loaned out to Buxton and Eastleigh to continue their development. One practical advantage of placing players with clubs in the National League system is that they are not restricted by the EFL's transfer windows, meaning Wednesday could recall a player like Johnson immediately if needed rather than waiting until January.
There is more to the placements than flexibility, though. Moses and Stretch have gone to Buxton, now managed by former Wednesday Under-18s boss Jordan Broadbent, who already knows both players well and has an existing relationship with Henrik Pedersen and Simon Wilson that helps keep development conversations productive.
Broadbent said he has stayed close to the club since leaving, telling The Wednesday Word: "I left with their blessing." He described the move as a good developmental step for both players, given the level offers a notably competitive standard. Moses made his debut against a defence with more than 1,000 EFL appearances between them, an experience Broadbent called a baptism of fire. Since then, Moses has impressed against Brackley, while Stretch has picked up his first clean sheet at the club.
Owls sell out Salford City away allocation
Sheffield Wednesday's away ticket allocation for their EFL Trophy trip to Salford City has sold out.
Wednesday face Salford at the AIG Stadium on Tuesday 22 September, kicking off at 7pm, in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two clubs. Henrik Pedersen's side will have the backing of a capacity 1,366 travelling Wednesdayites on the night. The fixture forms part of Group A of the EFL Trophy, which also features Accrington Stanley and Sunderland Under-21s.
It is another sold-out away allocation for the club, continuing a strong pattern of travelling support this season.
Matchday guide: Owls v Wigan
Sheffield Wednesday have issued a matchday guide ahead of Saturday's Hillsborough clash with Wigan Athletic (3pm kick-off), covering ticketing, timings and a few new additions to the matchday experience.
Fans are being encouraged to download digital tickets in advance and have them ready to scan on arrival to speed up entry, with print-at-home tickets similarly prepared before travelling. Turnstiles open at 1.30pm, and the club is urging supporters to get there early to beat queues, soak up the pre-match atmosphere and sort any ticketing issues in good time, with a big crowd expected.
On the food front, kiosk menus are being expanded to include vegan and gluten-free options, available from a designated kiosk in each stand, with catering staff on hand to point fans in the right direction.
Saturday will also see the first use of a new fan-led Kop flag, funded through fundraising by the Supporters' Trust and Flag Group, as part of the pre-match build-up.
For the practicalities, the Ticket Office and Megastore open at 9am and reopen for 45 minutes after the match. The South Stand Ticket Office will have staff on hand from 1.30pm for ticketing help, while the Information Hub under the South Stand, offering general enquiries and audio-descriptive commentary receivers, opens three hours before kick-off. The club has also reiterated its reporting line — 07526 166907 — for any discriminatory, abusive or anti-social behaviour witnessed on the day.
