Ugbo closing in on Cyprus switch
Iké Ugbo appears to be nearing the exit door after a difficult spell at Hillsborough.
As first reported by kerkida.net and backed up by information from Joe Crann at The Wednesday Word, there is growing confidence that a move to Cyprus could be completed within the next few days. The understanding is that all parties are keen to reach an agreement.
Burstow set to bolster attack
Wednesday look to have moved swiftly in identifying a replacement.
The Owls are understood to be close to completing a loan move for Hull City striker Mason Burstow following the Tigers' promotion to the Premier League. Alex Miller first revealed Wednesday's interest, with The Wednesday Word reporting that loan terms are now all but agreed.
Henrik Pedersen is also believed to retain an interest in Tottenham Hotspur forward Dane Scarlett, while another unnamed striker remains on the club's shortlist as Wednesday continue to strengthen their attacking options.
Maynard-Brewer set to become 10th summer signing
The changes between the posts are also gathering pace.
Joe Lumley has already arrived and is expected to begin the season as Wednesday's first-choice goalkeeper. Australian goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer is on the verge of becoming the club's 10th signing of the summer.
The 27-year-old is available as a free agent after leaving Dundee United at the end of June. He came through the ranks at Charlton Athletic and spent time on loan with clubs including Ross County and Gillingham before moving north of the border.
Maynard-Brewer has 70 League One appearances from his time with Charlton and should provide meaningful competition for Lumley as Wednesday target an immediate return from the third tier. The Australian Under-23 international will be hoping to establish himself at Hillsborough if the deal is finalised.
Further goalkeeper depth under consideration
Wednesday's work in the position may not stop with Maynard-Brewer.
The club are also reported to have an interest in former MK Dons goalkeeper Connal Trueman, who became available following his departure earlier this month. Jack Phillips, meanwhile, is expected to sign a new contract and become the first-choice goalkeeper for the Under-21s.
