Sheffield Wednesday return to League One action on Saturday lunchtime with a trip to Peterborough United as Henrik Pedersen’s side look to build on an encouraging start to the season.
The Owls head to London Road with nine points from their opening four league games, having won three and lost one, while Peterborough have taken four points from the same number of fixtures.
Wednesday arrive on the back of Tuesday night’s 2-1 victory at Wycombe Wanderers, where goals from Louie Barry and Jamal Lowe overturned an early deficit.
And Pedersen now has another attacking option to call upon following the arrival of Davis Keillor-Dunn from Wrexham.
Keillor-Dunn arrives at Hillsborough
Wednesday confirmed on Thursday that Keillor-Dunn has joined on loan until 2 January 2027, becoming the club’s 18th signing of a remarkably busy summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old brings significant experience and a strong goalscoring record at League One level.
After spells with Ross County, Falkirk, Wrexham, Oldham Athletic and Burton Albion, Keillor-Dunn joined Mansfield Town in 2023 and scored 22 goals as the Stags won promotion to League One.
He followed that with another prolific campaign after joining Barnsley in 2024, scoring 19 goals and being named the club’s Player of the Year.
Keillor-Dunn returned to Wrexham in February before completing his temporary move to Hillsborough this week.
Speaking after the deal was announced, he described Wednesday as a “huge club with massive ambition” and said he wants to create chances and score important goals during his time in S6.
Sporting Director Simon Wilson described him as another “top attacking talent” and pointed towards his proven record at this level.
Keillor-Dunn will wear number 50.
His arrival is particularly timely following the injury suffered by Barry at Wycombe and gives Pedersen another experienced option across the forward positions.
Wednesday looking to build on strong start
There has been plenty to like about Wednesday’s opening weeks back in League One.
Pedersen’s side have recorded victories over Leyton Orient, Bromley and Wycombe, with their only league defeat coming at home to Bradford City.
The 7-2 win over Bromley demonstrated the attacking potential within the squad, while Tuesday’s victory at Wycombe required a different approach as Wednesday recovered from going behind and successfully managed a difficult away game.
Jamal Lowe has been one of the standout performers so far and added another goal from the penalty spot in midweek.
Callum Slattery has also settled quickly into midfield, while Reece James has produced a number of assured performances since returning to Hillsborough.
The addition of Keillor-Dunn only increases the competition available to Pedersen in attacking areas.
The opponents
Peterborough have endured a more difficult opening to their campaign.
Luke Williams’ side have taken four points from their first four league matches and go into Saturday’s game having failed to score in their previous two outings.
They were held to a goalless draw by Stevenage on Tuesday, failing to register a shot on target.
Posh were active themselves during the summer transfer window, making 11 additions to their squad.
One of the latest was 20-year-old midfielder Harry Ashfield, who arrived on deadline day and could make his debut against the Owls.
Williams has described Ashfield as an “action man” capable of contributing both defensively and going forward while operating in several midfield roles.
Peterborough also retained highly-rated players including Harry Leonard and Bolu Shofowoke through the end of the window.

The major injury blow for Wednesday is the loss of Louie Barry.
Barry suffered ankle ligament damage during the victory at Wycombe and now faces a spell on the sidelines after making an excellent start to the season.
Pedersen described his absence as a “big, big blow” for both the player and the team.
Di’Shon Bernard and George Brown are continuing to work their way back towards fitness.
Max Lowe, Sil Swinkels and Jordi Liongola remain sidelined with hamstring injuries and are expected to be unavailable for a number of weeks.
Harry Gray will also miss Saturday’s match due to concussion protocol, although he should be available again afterwards.
Ricardo Santos remains a doubt.
Pedersen confirmed on Thursday that the defender would undergo further testing before a decision is made on whether he can feature at London Road.
The arrival of Keillor-Dunn at least gives the Wednesday head coach another option as he considers how to replace Barry in his attacking setup.

Peterborough received some encouraging news regarding Owura Edwards after he was forced off against Stevenage.
The winger appeared to be struggling with his hamstring, but Williams said subsequent examinations had not revealed anything significant and he is expected to be in contention.
Tom O’Connor could also return, although Peterborough are continuing to manage his workload.
Carl Johnston is expected to remain unavailable after suffering an injury when catching the ground, while Vernon Masara continues his recovery from a heavy collision.
Players to watch
Jamal Lowe remains one of Wednesday’s main attacking threats after an excellent start to the season.
His penalty proved decisive at Wycombe and, with Barry now unavailable, there will be even greater emphasis on Wednesday’s other attacking players.
Keillor-Dunn is another obvious player to watch if involved.
His record at Mansfield and Barnsley demonstrates his ability to produce goals at this level, and his versatility gives Pedersen several ways of introducing him into the side.
In midfield, Slattery has made an immediate impact and could again have an important role against an energetic Peterborough team.
For Posh, Harry Leonard remains one of the players Wednesday will need to keep quiet, while Ashfield could provide another option if handed his debut.

Saturday will be Wednesday’s first league trip to Peterborough since the extraordinary 2023 play-off semi-final.
The Owls suffered a 4-0 defeat at London Road in the first leg, leaving their promotion hopes seemingly over.

James Ray has predicted a 2-0 Owls victory, pointing towards the quality within Pedersen’s squad and the early-season form of Lowe and Slattery.
Harry Mail also expects Wednesday to win, predicting a 2-1 scoreline.
Peterborough’s recent lack of goals will give Wednesday encouragement, although Posh possess enough individual quality to make this a difficult afternoon if the Owls are not at their best.
